SYSML V2 TUTORIALS
Modelling in SysML v2
Learn the language by building real models
A practical series on SysML v2 modelling, built with our own tool. Each tutorial walks through a real model — the Block Definition Diagram, the Internal Block Diagram, and the language constructs that tie them together. Every diagram is rendered by the tool from the same semantic model, never hand-drawn.
The SysML v2 Series
These tutorials walk through SysML v2 modelling using a single running example — a complete vehicle powertrain. You'll see how the Block Definition Diagram (the structure) and the Internal Block Diagram (the wiring) are two views of the same semantic model, how the definition/usage distinction works, and how ports, connectors, and constraints tie the system together. Each tutorial is a step-by-step article with tool-rendered diagrams.
Running Example: Vehicle Powertrain
Throughout the series we use a vehicle powertrain — engine, fuel tank, transmission, axle, and wheels. It has a clear structure, a clear flow (fuel in, torque out), and enough complexity to exercise the full range of SysML v2 constructs: port definitions, attribute definitions, block definitions with compartments, block usages with boundary ports, multiplicity, subsetting, and port-to-port connectors.
Modelling a Powertrain in SysML v2
The BDD + IBD walkthrough. Define the blocks, their compartments, and the boundary ports, then wire the powertrain together and read both diagrams.
From SysML v1 to v2
The migration story: block/compartments vs part/features, and what changes for existing v1 models and customers.
Interfaces and Connections in SysML v2
An IBD deep-dive: ports, connectors, subsetting and specialization — the constructs that tie a system together.
